A medium-sized professional services firm, providing its clients in Sweden with complex technological and advisory services, experienced challenges in meeting its operational objectives, and to deliver quality with a sustainable profit. They also needed to decrease the turn over of personnel.
An organizational audit made by consultants from Momentus, showed that the organization culture contained one of the core syndromes, causing the operational difficulties in the firm. More specifically, while a minor part of the firm’s employees tended to manifest a strong goal-oriented behavior, with limited collaborative intentions and manifestations, the other lager part of the firm’s employees manifested the opposite behavioral pattern: strong collaborative and group focus and limited goal-oriented behavior.
This gap could be derived from the basic values and attitudes held by the firm’s employees about the very nature of work, pleasure, profession, professional relations, leadership, etc.
Momentus consultants presented the identified current situation to the firm, in order to create an understanding of the situation. The findings were discussed in workshops, where all employees participated, led by Momentus consultants.
The workshops resulted in a collectively formulated desired situation of the firm, stating that all employees should strive toward a behavior that manifests combined maximal goal-orientation and maximal collaboration between the employees. The definition of the desired situation was followed by the formulation of activities and resources needed to close the gap between the current and the desired situation.
Already the very identification of the problem and formulation of its solution initiated the change of employee’s behavior and the firms operations resulting in improved performance….
